This weekend was completely FULL! What all happened?… here’s your weekend recap:
XLRate Elementary A Cappella Camp
Elementary Students in grades 3-6 had the opportunity to participate in a one-day after school camp where they could learn all about pop a cappella music. Last year we had 31 students involved, and this year, that number ballooned to 46! The students had a great time during the camp and were also invited to perform on our A Cappella Dinner Show the following evening, which just happens to be the next weekend event!…
2016 A Cappella Dinner Show
Every year (since at least 1996), the Jacket Company hosts a Dinner Show. The students and Music Boosters prepare and serve a meal, with a performance by the Jacket Company afterwards.
Normally, we would serve around 120 meals, but last year we started the XLRate A Cappella Camp, and that number jumped to 189 meals! THIS YEAR, our meal number jumped again to 229!
In the past, the performance would only be members of the Jacket Company performing a few full group numbers and a few solos. Over the years, we added a Junior High A Cappella group (PreAmp), as well as a guest group from an area high school. This year, our guest group was NU Age from North Union High School. Not only did we have Jacket Company, PreAmp, XLRate & NU Age performing, but 11 of our Jacket Company Alumni came back to perform a song from ‘back in the day’!
Our numbers this year were fantastic! We had 97 performers, served 229 meals, and another 80+ came just to watch the show! … we might even out grow the gymnasium in a few years!
2016 Elementary Spring Musical – GO FISH!
This year, the Fourth Grade decided on GO FISH! for the Spring K-4 Musical. We actually performed this same musical in 2007, but since some of those elementary students are now in college, we decided it was ok to bring it back for a second run.
The 4th grade covered all of the speaking roles, the 3rd grade were the CLOWNFISH, the 2nd grade were the SEAHORSES, the 1st grade did a great job playing the role of CRABS, and the Kindergarten made a very dangerous ELECTRIC EEL (complete with flashing lights!)
The students did a wonderful job and we had a great community turnout, especially since the weather was so nice!
THANK YOU to everyone who helped in any way with this weekends activities. And a BIG THANK YOU is in order for our Music Boosters. They do SO MUCH for our students and the Music Department. Words cannot express how grateful we are for all that they do for us.
Next week is our SPRING FINE ARTS FESTIVAL at 7:00pm in the HS Gym, featuring all of our instrumental and vocal performing ensembles. See you there!
